What’s In Store for 2014?

Firstly, HAPPY NEW YEAR LOVELIES!

While JPE took a little break from social media over the holidays to catch up on office/storage organization, quality time with friends and family, and general R&R, we were thinking about what 2014 has in store.  2013 was such an incredible year (details about its incredible-ness to come later this month), that it would be hard not to be motivated and completely thrilled about what 2014 has in store.

To keep it short, here are just a few things already in the calendar that we are looking forward to for 2014:

♥  Photo-shoot scheduled with the amazingly, talented and hilarious Brian Reilly Photography  (This gem of a photographer will not only make you feel comfortable in front of a camera but make your entire experience fun!)
♥  Long-time, elementary school and childhood friend is getting married to her decade-long boyfriend on March 8th. I am completely honoured she has asked me to help with the decor on her big day!
♥  Already surpassed the number of weddings booked for 2014 that I was fortunate enough to be a part of in 2013 (Yay!)
♥  The opportunity to work with multiple new vendors and venues, including the gorgeous Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District, Toronto, the breath-taking Windermere Manor in London ON, and more unique and inspiring spaces. I CAN’T WAIT!
♥  Previous clients expecting 2014 babies! AHH! (Congrats Sarah & Matt and Congrats Danielle & Geoff!! I am sooo extremely elated for the both of you!)

Looking forward to 2014 which is open-ended with limitless possibilities and filled with LOTS of love and loveliness!

Stay tuned for details of why 2013 was such a great year for JPE!

Getting Lost in Pinterest!

So if you have met with me regarding your wedding, or merely had a conversation with me about any wedding, you’ll know I am a BIG fan of pinterest!  While as a whole it can be quite daunting and consume multiple hours of your day (I am definitely guilty for spending countless hours drooling over the millions of beautiful images), it is a great starting point to find inspiration for your big day. When it comes to pulling all of the pieces together for a wedding, it can seem overwhelming.  Some bride-to-be’s have a clear vision of what they want their day to look like and how they want it to feel. They know the colour of dress their bridesmaids will wear right down to the font on their seating chart. Others, not so much.

Confession: After all of the weddings I have been lucky enough to be involved in, I know when its my turn, finding my vision will be a struggle – I just love everything! The luxurious look of crisp, white, leather sofas, sequin table cloths and mirrored vases – I want.  The cozy, rustic feel of exposed wooden tables, baby’s breath everywhere and flip flops for all of the ladies – I need. The relaxed, fun vibe of long, rectangle tables to fit 20, a canoe filled with beer and everyone enjoying some bean bag toss – I must have.  How will I pull it all together? Well, I guess we’ll both have to wait until that day comes to find out :)!

PIN BOARD

Follow Jackie Penner Events’s board Maybe Me… on Pinterest.

Anyways, take a stroll over to the JPE Pinterest page and poke around. Check out other couples inspirations (with their permission of course, I have some open wedding boards with current clients!), signage options for your big day, or alternatives to floral centrepieces!  There is plenty to look at, so take a break and peruse the loveliness!

Enjoy!

Lindsay & Omar: Unforgettable November Day

In honour of their one year wedding anniversary this month, I figured Lindsay & Omar would be a great couple to be the first wedding to grace the JPE Blog.  I have known Lindsay for many years and through various cities. She is no doubt one of the strongest, intelligent, motivated and confident woman I have ever gotten to know and absolutely adore. Being the organized, tedious-task-loving lady she is, it was an honour when she asked me to manage the day-of her wedding to Omar (who is quite the catch as well!).

(I am in LOVE with this picture! How cute are they!)

Lindsay & Omar held their wedding at the beautiful Thompson Landry Gallery in the Distillery District, Toronto.  On a chilly November day, the couple were joined by 160 of their family and friends for a late, romantic ceremony followed by a cocktail reception.  If you have ever been to the Distillery District, then you know that 90% of the venues there are gorgeous just the way they are – the Thompson Landry Gallery is no different.  With original art and exposed brick the space did not need too much TLC.  To personalize the space, we put together deep red rose arrangements which were placed in various locations throughout the venue and matched the bridesmaids bouquets.

Because the wedding ceremony was scheduled for a 7:00 pm start, the bridal party were able to relax, take their time and fully enjoy getting ready for the evening.  The bridesmaids wore the infamous twobirds bridesmaid dresses (a dress I absolutely recommend to all brides for their maids!) and every one of the ladies looked stunning.

Not a dry eye in the room after this gorgeous and passionate ceremony…

If you know me, you know I am a sucker when it comes to father-daughter relationships (likely because I am the only girl of three and have THE softest spot in my heart for my own dad!). Lindsay’s father is truly a man I admire and hold very dear to my heart. I am in love with the images the talented Brian McNally caught of the precious moments between John and Lindsay.

During the cocktail reception guests were served champagne and delicious hors d’oeuvres provided by Sublime Catering.  Music kept people on the dance floor the entire evening, despite the sore feet of many women…

**Advice for bride-to-be’s: If your venue does not allow guests to take off their shoes while ripping up the dance floor, you may want to consider providing some flip flops for the women so the party, and their feet, can last all night!

This was an unforgettable day. Lindsay & Omar planned the perfect day which really represented who they are as a couple: immense value for family and friends, laid-back, stylish and completely adoring of one another.  Thank you both so much for involving me in your big day, I will cherish it forever!
